How It Works

1. Add to Wishlist

When you find something you want to buy, add it to your private wishlist instead of purchasing immediately. Include the title, price, and optionally a link to the product.

Cooling-off Protocol

The moment you add an item, a mandatory cooling-off period begins. You cannot make a final decision until this period ends.

2. The Pause

During the cooling-off period (24h, 48h, 7d, or 30d - you choose), you cannot:

  • Submit a final purchase decision
  • Click through to buy the item
  • Skip the waiting period

This enforced delay is the core feature. It creates friction that prevents impulse purchases.

3. Evaluation

Once the cooling-off period ends, you'll evaluate the purchase using 5 criteria (1-5 scale):

Practical ValueHow useful is this in daily life?
Emotional ValueJoy or satisfaction potential?
Opportunity CostWhat else could you do with this money?
Regret RiskLikelihood of buyer's remorse?
AlternativesAre there better options?

Recommendation system: Buys (≥18), Waits (13-17), Skips (<13).

4. Decision

After evaluating, you proceed with a clear mind:

BuySkipWait

5. Insight

Review your personal data over time:

  • — Items bought vs. skipped
  • — Regret rate tracking
  • — Total capital preserved
  • — Category analysis

The Philosophy

PauseBeforeBuy is built on a simple principle: friction creates value. In a world optimized for instant gratification, we deliberately slow you down. The delay, the evaluation, the quantification—all designed for clarity.
